Scooter Thoughts...the beginning!

Well, I have come up with a new idea. Obviously, a good portion of my time is spent traveling on my scooter. Much like back home in my car, my scooter is where I have some good thinking time. Some people think in the toilet, I like to use a means of transportation. What can I say? So my idea, which by the way came to me while riding on my scooter, is to have a "Scooter Thoughts" blog every once in a while. Thus, the first Scooter Thoughts blog!!! (I can hear the music...duh da dah!!!)

For my first Scooter Thoughts session I would like to bring forth the ideas that came to mind tonight on my way home. Allow me to set the mood. It's about 9:45pm, on a clear, windy and cold (below freezing) night. I am fully clothed (thank goodness, if not that would be a whole different type of "session" that I would need), in a long sleeve shirt, fleece zip up, ski jacket, face/neck guard, ear cover, gloves, regular pants, 2 pair of socks (tall) and my helmet of course. All of this, while zipping right along at a whopping 60 km/h (about 35-40 mph)! I know I know...I don't ride a hog I ride a piglet!!

So, with all of that information in mind, here are my Scooter Thoughts!

1. So far, I have found 3 levels of cold:

Cold: Skin is chilled, but can be warmed quickly once off scooter.
Numb: You have passed the cold phase, and begin to lose surface feeling of limbs
Cold Pain: You have passed the numb phase, and you begin to regain feeling and it starts to hurt!

I would just like to say that I am an optimist however, and since this is the case I would like to say something to that affect. I am optimistic, key word, that I have not yet reached all of the levels of cold yet. I strongly believe that there are more, and I will surely reach them before winters end! My guess would be that one of the levels would be frostbite or loss of limbs....hopefully we will not reach that one!!!

2. My mom will be proud of me for this one! Practice what my mom always told me! Be a lady when on the scooter! In other words, put your legs together! Don't worry, skirts are not being worn!! There are multiple reasons for this thought. If you keep your legs together, you will catch less wind resistance, legs stay warmer together, and for a lack of a better way to say it...some areas just shouldn't be that cold!!!

3. Do not try to whistle to pass the time! I do like to whistle when on my scooter, but I am unable to do that when it is cold due to serious fogging issues! Dad...I will go ahead and say it for you...I am full of hot air! This I know! ha ha

I think I will keep it to 3 points tonight. I just thought it might be fun to share that with you! By the way...the thermometer on my blog is incorrect. I should probably remove it, but you can probably subtract 5-7 degrees off of that to get the actual temperature. Yikes!! Anyway, that is all for now!

Sayonara for now!
